Park District art classes for adults this fall

Upcoming art classes for adults at the Elmhurst Park District offer a variety of options for ages 18 and up. From painting to photography, use your creativity and grow your skills! All classes meet at the Mary E. Kies Recreation Center (155 E. St. Charles Rd.). Register with the links below or call the Park District at (630) 993-8193.

Recreating the Masters

• Monday, September 11, 9:30-11:30am
• Monday, October 9, 9:30-11:30am

(Ages 18 and up) We'll copy an artist's work as a way to experience the techniques and colors they used. We will be working in acrylics, on canvas and the focus will be fall themes. All materials will be provided. September’s painting will be The Harvest Moon by Samuel Palmer, October’s will be Halloween Blessings by Ellen Evert Hopman. Register>>

Evening Acrylic Painting

• Wednesday, October 11, 6:30-8:30pm

(Ages 18 and up) Join artist Colleen Koziara as she provides step by step instructions as you create your own work of art. September's class will paint Wheat in the Sun, October's class will paint a Spooky Tree. Register>>

Colorful Fall Landscape Watercolor

• Monday, September 25, 6:30-8:30pm

(Ages 18 and up) Paint the beautiful colors of autumn in this watercolor landscape! In this class you will learn brush handling, blending colors, and watercolor techniques to finish a painting worthy of framing! Register>>

Watercolor Painting

• Wednesday, September 27, 10am-Noon
• Wednesday, October 18, 10am-Noon

(Ages 18 and up) Students of all skill levels will learn various watercolor techniques as they complete their own painting. All supplies are provided. September's class will paint a bushel of apples, October's painting will be pumpkins. Register>>

Photo 1 Digital SLR Photography - Beginner

• Mondays, September 11-25, 6-8pm

(Ages 18 and up) This in person class is appropriate for any camera you have and will start with the basics. You'll learn about your camera modes, aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, close-up flower photo, methods of focus and ISO then taking pictures in the Manual Mode. Register>>

Get Ready for the Holidays Photography

• Thursday, October 5-19, 6-8pm

(Ages 18 and up) Get you ready for the holidays and learn what settings to use in front of lit decorations with your family, why your flash washes out your pictures, and why flash pictures can turn out dark. You'll also discover how to take pictures with snow and low indoor light. Register>>
