Parking Changes Coming To Downtown Elmhurst
Starting next week, significant City Council-approved changes on parking fees, permits, and time limits will go into effect downtown.

ELMHURST, IL — New parking restrictions in downtown Elmhurst will begin going into effect Oct. 19, following City Council approval on Oct. 5. The new changes were debated over several months with the input of the Public Affairs and Safety Committee, City Centre representatives, and city staff. The new changes aim to increase availability of on-street parking, encourage longer visits to downtown shops, and simplify the parking payment system, among others.
City staff will begin changing parking signs on Oct. 19 to reflect the new changes, which include:
- All spaces with a 3-hour limit will be changed to a 2-hour limit.
- All spaces in parking structures with a 3-hour limit will be extended to a 4-hour limit.
- All current permit parking spaces on the first floor of the Adelaide parking structure will be changed to 4-hour customer only parking.
- 11 part-time employee parking spaces will be added to the third level of the Adelaide parking structure.
- Current spaces reserved for the Elmhurst History Museum on the Crescent Court ring road will be changed to customer only parking, except on a temporary basis during museum events.
