Paving On North Avenue Could Cause Traffic Delays This Week
Paving on North Avenue is expected to cause traffic congestion in Elmhurst and Villa Park on Wednesday and Thursday.
ELMHURST, IL — Paving on North Avenue is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday, Sept. 11, but motorists who use the thoroughfare in Elmhurst and Villa Park should expect major delays there and on nearby streets as the Illinois Department of Transportation's contractor works all day to finish the project.
Work will begin at 4 a.m. that day at the west end of the project at Villa Avenue in Villa Park and will continue east to I-290, according to the city of Elmhurst.
Two paving machines will be used and all eastbound and westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic throughout the day. Delays are expected on North Avenue and all north/south streets including Route 83 and York Road.
