Pepper-Spraying Near Elmhurst Bank Results In Arrest: Cops

In another case, a man was arrested after striking a woman in an Elmhurst neighborhood, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police arrested people on charges of battery, disorderly conduct, domestic battery, burglary and retail theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police log:

Battery

  • A 60-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 5:30 a.m. Saturday near Chase Bank, 163 N. York St., on charges of battery and disorderly conduct. Police said she pepper-sprayed another person, who flagged down an officer. The woman was released.

Domestic battery

  • A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 9:30 a.m. March 19 at Fullerton Avenue and Indiana Street on two counts of domestic battery and one count of criminal property damage. Police said the man argued with a woman, struck her and smashed her phone. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • A 29-year-old Miami man was arrested about 11 p.m. March 16 at the Extended Stay America hotel, 550 W. Grand Ave., on two counts of domestic battery. Police said the man battered someone else during an argument. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Burglary

  • Kalvin Johnson, 35, of Chicago, was arrested March 16 on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, aggravated fleeing, driving without a license, speeding, driving an uninsured car, improper lane usage and failing to signal when required. Police said the man broke the back window of a parked car and stole a grill on Jan. 6 or Jan. 7 in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road. Johnson was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • Brittany M. Nguyen, 31, and Blake J. Prescher, 35, both of Chicago, were arrested about 4:30 p.m. March 17 on charges of burglary, retail theft, and possession of a controlled substance. Nguyen was also charged with being a fugitive from justice and possession of burglary tools. Police said the incident occurred at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The suspects were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • Julian Martinez, 27, of Berwyn, and Ricardo Martinez, 28, of Cicero, were arrested about 8 p.m. March 17 on charges of burglary and retail theft. A 29-year-old Cicero woman was charged with retail theft. Police said the incident occurred at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The men were taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • A 59-year-old Willowbrook woman was arrested Sunday on a retail theft charge. She turned herself in at the police station after stealing merchandise about 1 p.m. a day earlier at the Goodwill store, 675 W. North Ave., police said. She was released.
