Flight Attendant Screams 'Brace, Brace, Brace' as Plane Hits O'Hare Runway Missing Half its Landing Gear
Plane from Michigan lands safely despite missing front landing gear.
A small airplane was forced to land at O’Hare International Airport with its landing gear in a “partial gear up” position Saturday afternoon, reports the Chicago Department of Aviation and GoJet Airlines.
GoJet flight 3645, carrying 37 passengers and four crew from Grand Rapids, MI, to Chicago, reported mechanical issues before landing at 3:30 p.m. Everyone got off the plane safely.
The flight was contracted by United Airlines and departed Gerald R. Ford airport in Grand Rapids at 2 p.m. Central time. About 20 minutes into the flight, the pilot announced to passengers they were having a problem with the front landing gear, according to passenger Jim Petzing, reports WZZM 13 in Grand Rapids.

“We were instructed by the flight attendants on how to brace ourselves for the landing. As we got about 150 feet from the ground 200 feet from the ground it seemed, the flight attendant screamed ‘Brace, brace, brace!’ And we all got into brace position and then the women in front of me was getting sick to her stomach, a baby was screaming, but overall we landed and then the nose of the plane tipped forward because there was no tire there deployed and we went for a little while on the runway scraping,” Petzing said. “I thought we would turn and roll but we didn’t.”
