Police Car Hits 14-Year-Old Bicyclists: Elmhurst PD
An ambulance was called to the scene to evaluate both girls, who were both were released to their parents at the scene.

ELMHURST, IL — An Elmhurst Police squad car was involved in a collision with two 14-year-old bicyclists on Monday, police said. The collision happened at 7:10 a.m. at West Avenue and First Street.
According to police, the Elmhurst police patrol vehicle was making a right turn from westbound First Street to northbound West Avenue and struck two 14-year-old female bicyclists as they traveled southbound West Avenue on the east sidewalk crossing First Street.
An ambulance was called to the scene to evaluate the girls, who were both released to their parents at the scene, police said. At the time of the collision, the officer was on routine patrol duties and it has been confirmed that he was not communicating on his Mobile Data Terminal or a cell phone.

“We are thankful that the girls were not seriously injured and an internal investigation is currently underway," Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth said in a release.
