ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst's rebuilt Field Elementary School is on track to open in time for the start of school next Thursday, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

Elmhurst School District 205 plans a ribbon-cutting ceremony as it did for the new Lincoln Elementary a year ago, but no date has been set, spokeswoman Tonya Daniels said.

The public will not be allowed in during the ceremony, she said. An open house is planned for later.

The project started last summer with the demolition of the old building.

The new school was made possible by a $168 million referendum passed by voters in 2018. The replacements of Field and Lincoln elementary schools are the largest referendum projects.
