Armed Robbery Suspect Took Cash: Cops

ELMHURST, IL — A man robbed a TCF Bank in Elmhurst about 3 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The bank is inside the Jewel grocery store at 944 S. York St.

The man displayed a handgun, took an undetermined amount of money and ran away in an unknown direction, police said. Schools in the area were placed on a temporary "soft" lockdown, which was lifted, police said.

The man is described as black, 5-foot-5, having a thin build and wearing a blue shirt with lettering on the front.
