Rotary Club of Elk Grove Paints with Students with Hearing Loss

Child's Voice students participated with local community partners from the Rotary Club

Members of the Rotary Club of Elk Grove joined students at Child’s Voice last week to make art projects. This new partnership, through the “Art & Community” Project at Child’s Voice, pairs civic groups like the Rotary Club with students to bring art into the classrooms and offer community volunteers the chance to work hands-on with students.

“I had an absolute blast creating some sport themed art projects with the children,” shared Bill Beaupre, Rotary Club of Elk Grove President. “I look forward to returning in the fall with a reading project. Thanks for also giving us a tour of your incredible facility. Child's Voice should be extremely proud of the outstanding accomplishments achieved.”

Child’s Voice helps children with hearing loss learn to listen and speak. Students wear hearing aids and/or cochlear implants and programs use a child-focused, research-based curriculum, all with the end goal of transitioning graduates back to their neighborhood schools. This year, Child’s Voice has supported over 300 children and their families. Students range in age from just a few days old through the age of 8.

“Collaboration with our community is a critical part of our successes,” Dr. Michele Wilkins, Child’s Voice Executive Director said. “We are excited to share more about Child’s Voice with community groups like the Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis, and Women’s Clubs. To have them onsite, interacting with our students, allows them to see the magic that happens with each of these children.”
