On Wednesday, Elmhurst police received a report that a person identifying himself or herself as the famous actor contacted a resident on Atrium Way via the internet Jan. 1, according to a report. The imposter told the resident to transfer money to an unknown account, police said.

The resident complied with the request and transferred the money, police said. An investigation is pending.

The crime is listed as theft by deception.
