Salt Creek Trail Pumping Stations Highlight Environmental Projects
Join the Open House/Walking Tour to view water quality and landscape enhancement best management practices
The City of Elmhurst has completed the Salt Creek (Greenway) Trail Pumping Stations Water Quality and Landscape Enhancements project involving improvements at four pumping stations: Harrison, Jackson, Berkley, Adams and McKinley.
Join the Open House/Walking Tour on Wed., Sept. 23, 11 a.m., starting at the Berkley Ave. and Adams St. Pumping Station. The project features best management practices to aid in stormwater detention, improve water quality and reduce runoff into Salt Creek.
View a green roof system, porous pavers, rain gardens and exterior native plantings at four demonstration sites along Salt Creek and the Greenway Trail. These improvements can be replicated at a homeowners’ individual properties to achieve the same benefits.

Educational signs from the demonstration sites can be viewed on the City website: elmhurst.org. This tour is free; the public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
