Sandbags Available for Elmhurst Residents

Low-lying areas and inlets have been checked, and several cycles of city street sweeping are complete.

The Elmhurst Streets Division is preparing pallets of sandbags for residents to pick up in preparation for today’s storm.

There are also sandbags, shovels and a pile of sand available for residents to fill additional bags after hours, according to the city. These materials are available in the parking lot of the Public Works Garage.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the entire Chicago area until 3 p.m. Northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin are in the “enhanced risk” category for today’s storm.
