ELMHURST, IL — It seems like winter now, but Elmhurst held its St. Patrick's Day parade in spring-like weather just two days ago.
Because of the pandemic, the city went without a parade for two years. The last one was held just before the pandemic hit in March 2020.
With coronavirus cases waning, thousands showed up for this year's procession.

With temperatures reaching the 70s, many attended without jackets. And some restaurants offered outdoor dining.
The parade made one thing obvious: Politics is in the air again. With the June 28 primary elections approaching, politicians took up much of the parade.

But it was the bands, dancers and musicians that got most of the applause. And a group holding a "Support Ukraine" sign also drew many cheers.
