Sexual Assault, Jewelry Theft: Elmhurst Cops

Police are looking for a man they believe committed sexual assault.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving sexual assault, jewelry theft, domestic battery, theft, vandalism and stolen tires. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Sexual assault

  • A criminal sexual assault occurred about 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road. The incident was reported about nine hours later. The suspect was described as a white man, short, 45 to 50 and having dark hair. An investigation is pending.

  • A resident in the 100 block of South Arlington Avenue told police Thursday that his wife's rings were stolen from the kitchen counter. The victim said he had workers in his home Dec. 9 to install a new oven. The resident said he called the sales manager. The manager had the delivery truck checked, but no rings were found.

Interpol hit

  • Officers learned there was an active hit through Interpol for a driver involved in a crash about 10:30 a.m. Thursday at North Avenue and Route 83. Interpol, officially known as the International Criminal Police Organization, advised officers to release the driver.

  • A resident in the 200 block of East May Street told police that a woman pushed him during an argument about 3:30 p.m. Friday. The woman said the argument never turned physical. The report was made for a matter of record only.

Battery

  • A man in the 1100 block of South Euclid Avenue told police that while sitting down for dinner, another man yelled at him for sitting in his seat. The second man swung at him and grazed his chin. The first man said he did not want to file charges and only wanted to document the matter. The incident happened about 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Theft

  • Several youths were seen stealing inflatable decorations from a woman's front yard about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of East Wilson Street. The woman recovered two of the inflatables near Wilson and Washington streets.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a suspicious black Dodge Durango about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Oaklawn and North. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.

Vandalism

  • A strand of lights was damaged about 11 p.m. Friday at a house in the 300 block of South Lawndale Avenue. The suspect was described as a white boy, 16 to 17 years old, 5-foot-7, having shaggy hair, and wearing a dark sweatshirt and blue sweatpants.
  • A male spray-painted an exterior wall and poured paint on a driveway about 3:30 a.m. Saturday at a house in the 200 block of East Vallette Street. The male was described as white, having a heavy build, and wearing a light-colored sweatshirt with the hood up and light-colored sweatpants.
  • Someone broke the glass of a basement well window by throwing candles through it between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of South Fairfield Avenue.

Stolen tires

  • An officer found a white Hyundai Venue with all four tires missing Sunday at Wilkins Hyundai, 750 N. York St. It was determined the tires were stolen.
