Small Fraction Of Elmhurst Students With Virus: Report

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst School District 205 is still seeing a falling number of coronavirus cases among students, though not staff.

As of Friday, 71 students had the coronavirus, amounting to 0.9 percent of the student body, according to the district's latest report. That's down from 99 cases a week earlier.

Among employees, the district reported 19 cases, up from 11 a week before. Two weeks ago, 36 employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

At York High School, cases increased to 15 last week, from 11 a week before. Most other local schools saw declines.

According to the latest numbers, 22 students district-wide were quarantined as the result of close contacts with those with the coronavirus outside school. That's down from 25 the previous week.

As of Friday, no students were reported quarantined in the previous week as the result of close contacts in the district's schools.

According to District 205, 56 percent of students district-wide are vaccinated.
