Someone Damaged Elmhurst Cop Car At Station: Police

A man was found with drugs after officers were called about a retail theft, according to a report.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a damaged squad car at the police station, drugs, an ambulance hitting a fire truck, disorderly conduct and harassment. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Squad car damage

  • Someone damaged the passenger side rear panel of a squad car Thursday at the Elmhurst police station, 125 E. First St. The damage was found about 9:30 p.m.

  • Lachona Henderson, 47, of Maywood, was arrested about 8 p.m. Thursday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on a DuPage County warrant and charges of possession of a controlled substance and obstructing identification. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. In the same incident, Angel De Jesus Betancourt, 25, of Maywood, was arrested on a charge of retail theft. He was released on bond. Police were called to the store because of theft.

Ambulance vs. fire truck

  • An ambulance struck a parked fire truck about 5:30 a.m. Friday at Route 83 and St. Charles Road. They were responding to a car crash.

Disorderly conduct

  • Timothy Downey, 70, of Libertyville, was cited about 1 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of South York Street on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was released on bond.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 200 block of Illinois Street told police Thursday that someone had been harassing her with calls, texts and emails for the last two months. An investigation is pending.
