Stolen Jewelry, Voices Outside: Elmhurst: Cops
Jewelry was reported stolen from a house in an Elmhurst neighborhood.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst handled cases involving stolen jewelry, damage, a car burglary, a dog bite, an overdose, a scam, harassment and fugitive drivers. Here are the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Stolen jewelry
- A man told police Thursday that his father's ring and gold chain were missing from his father's house in the 300 block of West Avery Street. Some people stayed at the house in July, and they are believed to have stolen the jewelry. An investigation is pending.

- A resident in the 600 block of South Berkley Avenue told police she was awoken by the sound of her backyard gate being opened about 3 a.m. Monday. She then heard voices. She saw a woman near her backyard gate. Officers could not find anyone. An investigation is pending.
Damage
- A woman at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., told police Sunday that her boyfriend, whom she declined to identify, damaged her car. Evidence of footprints and damage was on the hood, roof and front bumper.

- A car was burglarized between Thursday and Sunday in the 200 block of East Butterfield Road. Someone broke the rear passenger side window and damaged the steering column. No items seemed to be missing at the time. An investigation is pending.
Dog bite
- A woman told police that her dog was bitten on the nose by another dog about 6 p.m. Thursday near Church and Fair. The owner of the other dog said his dog escaped while he was asleep. The owner, a 29-year-old man from the 400 block of South Fair, was issued a warning for not having an Elmhurst pet license and a citation charging him with having an unrestrained at-large animal.
Overdose
- Officers and medics administered Narcan, which treats drug overdoses, about 8 p.m. Friday at Manny's Ale House, 683 W. St. Charles Road. The person responded and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Unknown substance
- A person visited the police station Saturday about finding an unknown substance in his late brother's condominium in the 200 block of South Fairview. The substance was placed into evidence for destruction.
Scam
- A resident in the 100 block of East Armitage Avenue told police Saturday that she contacted what she thought was PayPal about a purchase. The so-called PayPal representative advised her that money was pending on her account. She was then told to wire the remaining money, so suspects committing fraud could not take her money. The resident wired the money and deposited it into a bitcoin machine. An investigation is pending.
Harassment
- A resident in the 100 block of Fellows Court told police Sunday that a person was repeatedly texting her throughout the day. The person was told to stop contacting the resident. The resident was advised to get an order of protection.
Fugitive drivers
- An officer tried to stop a Dodge Magnum about 11 a.m. Thursday near Roosevelt Road and Interstate 290. The car was linked to catalytic converter thefts. The driver sped away from the driver, last seen heading east on I-290.
- Officers tried to stop a red BMW 320i about 2 a.m. Monday at York and Adelia for disobeying a traffic light. The driver stopped for the officers before speeding away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
