String Of Thefts At Elmhurst Businesses Reported
In another case, a person used a fraudulent cashier's check to buy a car at a local dealership, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving catalytic converter thefts, fraud, DUI and resisting an officer. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Catalytic converter thefts
- Someone cut a hole in a fence, gained access to a company's back parking lot and stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle between last Friday and Tuesday. The crime occurred at Oakbrook Mechanical Services, 961 S. Riverside Drive. During the same timeline, catalytic converters were also stolen at Tilden Roofing, 252 W. Lake St., and Davey Resource Group, 910 S. Riverside Drive.
Fraud

- A person bought a car on May 20 at Al Piemonte Buick, 364 W. Grand Ave., using a fraudulent cashier's check. A blue Toyota RAV4 was listed as stolen.
DUI
- A 38-year-old Bensenville woman was arrested about 11 a.m. Tuesday at Robert Palmer Drive and York Street on charges of DUI (drugs), improper lane usage, following too closely and driving an uninsured car. She was taken to the police station and then released.

- A 32-year-old homeless man was arrested about 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Road and Cottage Hill Avenue on two Cook County warrants and charges of resisting an officer and crossing the roadway at a point other than a crosswalk. Police said they came into contact with the man after receiving a report of a suspicious person. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A 60-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 100 block of Butterfield Road was arrested about 9 p.m. Wednesday at his home on two DuPage County warrants and a charge of resisting an officer. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
