Sandburg Student Who Won't Get Out of Bed in the Morning Ticketed for Truancy

The student had collected 61 tardies for the school year.

A chronically tardy Sandburg Middle School student was in for a rude awakening May 12 when the assistant principal and an Elmhurst police officer went to his house to get him out of bed.

The assistant principal notified police that the student had collected 61 tardies for the school year, according to Elmhurst police. He just wouldn’t get out of bed for his mother.

Police had gone to the house before to get the boy to school, and they warned him that if they had to return, he would be ticketed.

When the student finally got to school May 12, he was issued a citation for truancy, according to police.
