A Westmont man made a break for it when the cops caught him siphoning gas but couldn't outrun the long arm of the law, police said.Joseph Sobota, 37, was spotted lurking around an Industrial Drive parking lot with a gas can and a siphon Tuesday night, police said."He ran from (officers) and was then taken into custody," police said.Sobota allegedly stole five gallons of gas from a parked car. He was charged with theft, tampering with a vehicle, and resisting police. He was hauled away to the DuPage County jail.The police said Sobota had a Mercedes.
