Suspects Check Cars In Elmhurst Neighborhood

In another case, a domestic battery was reported at a fast food restaurant.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving attempted burglaries, domestic battery, retail theft, a fugitive driver and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Attempted burglaries

  • Police were informed that three suspects were trying to get into unlocked cars shortly before midnight Saturday at Killarney Court and Madison Street. An investigation is pending.

  • A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 4 p.m. Sunday on two counts of domestic battery. Police said the man battered another person during an argument at McDonald's, 920 N. York St. The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Retail theft

  • A 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both of Chicago, were arrested Sunday on retail theft charges. Police said surveillance video showed the duo stole cosmetics March 29 at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. They were released.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a red BMW about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at York Street and Industrial Drive. The driver sped away.

Theft

  • A resident in the 200 block of West Butterfield Road transferred money through Apple Cash on Thursday to a suspect posing as a bank employee.

DUI

  • A 28-year-old Lombard man was arrested about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of East First Street on charges of DUI, driving a car while using a phone and driving too fast for conditions. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 31-year-old Maywood man was released about 5 a.m. Friday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of DUI, disobeying a traffic control signal, failing to signal, improper lane usage and resisting a police officer. He was taken to the police station and then released.
