Theft Suspect Grabs Elmhurst Store Worker: Cops

ELMHURST, IL – A Northlake man was arrested this week after stealing a carton of cigarettes, then grabbing an employee's arm to take her phone as she was recording him, Elmhurst police said.

After that, the man sped away and got into a crash, police said.

Antiwone Rudd, 39, of Northlake, was charged with aggravated battery in a public place, retail theft, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a traffic accident, improper backing of a vehicle on a roadway, failing to signal when required, disobeying a stop sign and disobeying a police officer.

Rudd was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

The incident occurred about noon Tuesday at Doti's Liquors, 104 E. Fullerton Ave., police said.
