Three Elmhurst Tennis Teams Place At USTA Midwest Championship
More than 300 tennis players representing over 50 different teams from throughout the Midwest competed in the championship.
ELMHURST, IL — Three teams from Courts Plus, a community fitness facility owned and operated by the Elmhurst Park District, finished strong in their respective age divisions at the 2017 USTA Junior Team Tennis Midwest Section Championships on July 29-30, in Indianapolis.
According to a release from USTA, more than 300 tennis players representing over 50 different teams from throughout the Midwest competed in the championship, making it one of the largest junior tennis tournaments in the country. Following are the teams, all ages 12 and under, from Courts Plus that were top
finishers in their divisions:
- Second Place: Courts Plus Lasers, 10 and Under Intermediate
- Fourth Place: Courts Plus Blasters, 10 and Under Intermediate
- Second Place: Courts Plus, 12 and Under Intermediate
Teams from all five states in the USTA/Midwest Section (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin) competed in the following divisions: 18 and Under (ages 15-18), 14 and Under (ages 13-14), 12 and Under (ages 11-12) and 10 and Under, according to the release. Each division includes both intermediate
and advanced level teams. The teams that participated in the USTA Junior Team Tennis
Midwest Section Championships advanced by winning their district playoff or by dominating
their local league.
