Villa Park Gym Stops Feds Pursuing Suspect Into Building: Cops

The agents chased a person, but the fitness center's staff denied access, police said.

VILLA PARK, IL – A Villa Park business stopped federal agents from pursuing a suspect who entered the building Wednesday, police said.

About 9 a.m., Villa Park police said they responded to the area near Vasa Fitness on North Avenue after being informed a federal law enforcement agency attempted to apprehend a "wanted individual."

Federal agents tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect ran to Vasa Fitness, police said.

Staff at Vasa Fitness denied the agents access, police said.

"Villa Park Police officers responded to ensure public safety and maintain scene security," the police department said in a news release. "After a brief period on scene, the federal agency concluded its operations and departed the area without taking the individual into custody."

Villa Park police said no one was reported injured.

The department did not identify the federal agency. Patch left a message for comment.
