Visually Impaired Ride Tandem Bicycles

Elmhurst Bicycle Club teamed with WDSRA to bike to the Taste of Wheaton

Members of Elmhurst Bicycle Club and the Chicago Area Tandem Society teamed up with WDSRA (Western DuPage Special Recreation Association) on June 6th to provide a tandem bicycle outing for visually impaired riders to the Taste of Wheaton. We met at the Lombard Commons at Grace Street and St. Charles Road in Lombard and adjusted the tandems and helmets for proper fit.  We rode west on the Great Western Trail making use of the new triple overpass. The weather was picture perfect. We made use of the free bike valet parking and enjoyed festival food, live music, and conversation. For our return route, we used the shaded Illinois Prairie Path for a most enjoyable, comfortably paced round trip of less than 20 miles. The next ride for visually impaired is scheduled for July 18 at the Morton Arboretum. Call NEDSRA (Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association) 630-576-4034for details.
