Woman Drives Drunk To Elmhurst Police Station, Endangers Kids: Cops

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving child endangerment, attempted theft in a grocery store, domestic battery, fugitive drivers, retail theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Child endangerment

• A 35-year-old Sterling woman was arrested about 1 a.m. Monday on four counts of child endangerment and counts of DUI and driving an uninsured car. She is accused of driving to the police station while drunk. She was released. Patch plans to file a public records request for the police report.

Attempted theft

• A woman told police that she felt a tug on her purse and saw a person trying to grab for her wallet about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Whole Foods, 215 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.

Domestic battery

• A 31-year-old Addison woman was arrested shortly before noon Monday on two domestic battery counts. Police said the incident occurred at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Theft

• The Elmhurst Elks Lodge, 711 W. St. Charles Road, told police Monday that someone signed for a FedEx package containing a Motorola phone without authority. The lodge reported the theft more than a week later.

Fugitive drivers

• An officer tried to stop a driver with a license plate that didn't match the vehicle about 3 a.m. Tuesday at North Avenue and York Street. The driver failed to stop and was last seen traveling east on Interstate 290 at St. Charles.
• An officer tried to stop a motorcycle rider who had no rear license plate about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grand Avenue and York Street. The driver fled and was last seen heading east on George Street from York Street.

Retail theft

• A person paying for alcohol concealed a sandwich and then stole it about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at 7-Eleven, 572 S. York St. An investigation is pending.
• A 43-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man, both of Chicago, were arrested about 7 a.m. Sunday on charges of retail theft and possession of a controlled substance. Police said the duo stole two bottles of tequila at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. They were found in neighboring Northlake. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUI

• A 29-year-old Hanover Park woman was arrested about 3 a.m. Wednesday at Butterfield and Spring roads on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured car, speeding and illegal transportation of alcohol. She was also wanted on a DuPage County warrant. She was released.
