Woman To Run For Elmhurst D-205 Board
Students at a local school are excluded from a new literacy curriculum, she said.

ELMHURST, IL – A resident who criticized a new literacy program in Elmhurst School District 205 announced Tuesday she was running for school board.
Jammie Esker Schaer said she took issue with the Wit & Wisdom literacy curriculum that she said the district purchased. It particularly hurts Conrad Fischer Elementary School, she said.
"Our community was shocked to understand the district purchased a new literacy program that excluded our most at-risk children at Conrad Fischer," Schaer said during public comments at a board meeting. "There are many highly regarded data-driven literacy curriculums that have a dual-language component."

She asked the administration to explain why it bought a program that she said would exclude students at Conrad Fischer, which houses the district's dual-language program.
