York Auditorium Way Ahead Of Schedule: Official
It could be used this school year, months before the project's deadline.

ELMHURST, IL – The year-long renovation of the York High School auditorium was expected to last until June.
But it could be ready for use this school year, an official said Wednesday.
"We're ready to turn it over within a month," Todd Schmidt, Elmhurst School District 205's facilities director, said. "It looks really great in there, really bright."

He said the school has a couple of days scheduled to train staff on the use of the auditorium's new equipment.
"There's just one thing we're waiting on – a subwoofer that was delayed. Other than that, it's coming along great," Schmidt said.

The project was expected to cost $7 million.
It includes the replacement of the curtain, stage rigging, house and stage lighting, and the orchestra shell. It also features re-sloping of floors, new seating and flooring, painting, new entry doors, an orchestra pit filler platform, and handicapped-accessible ramps to the stage.
The project is part of the $168 million referendum that voters approved in 2018.
Schmidt was speaking to the school board's finance committee. The video is available on the League of Women Voters of Elmhurst's Facebook page.
