York High's Chronic Absenteeism Spikes
Villa Park's Willowbrook had a lower rate than York High, according to state data.

ELMHURST, IL – Chronic absenteeism rose dramatically last school year at Elmhurst's York High School.
The state tracks the rate of students who are absent 10 percent or more of the days in a school year, whether excused or not. For a 180-day year, that means a student missed at least 18 days, or 3½ weeks.
According to the data, 37 percent of York students were chronically absent last school year, up from 22 percent the previous year. The rate was 10 percent in 2019 and 2020.
