York Varsity Boys' Tennis Compete in I.H.S.A. Sectional

Below are the results from the I.H.S.A. Sectional this past weekend. York was in one of the toughest if not the toughest Sectional in the state.

The Sectional included Hinsdale Central (3-time defending state champion), Downers Grove South (4th place in state last year), Downers Grove North, Hinsdale South, Timothy Christian, Glenbard East, Willowbrook and Montini.

Each of the State Qualifiers in Singles and Doubles are high seeds in this year’s state tournament.

I am very proud of the way our seniors competed this weekend as well as throughout the season. It’s a shame that this is where we were placed for the Sectional. We have several All-State caliber players this year and it would have been fun to see what they could do in the State Tournament this weekend. We are going to miss these seniors very much and we wish them well in the future.

Singles – Brendan Peterson (York)

1st Match – Brendan Peterson (York) defeated Nathan Daniels (Timothy Christian) 6-1, 6-3

2nd Match (Quarter-Final Match) – Christian San Andres (Downers Grove South) defeated Brendan Peterson (York) 6-1, 6-2

Singles – Alex Riddle (York)

1st Match – Tony Leto (Downers Grove South) defeated Alex Riddle (York) 6-3, 6-0

Doubles – Spencer Kost and Jake Shostak (York)

1st Match – Spencer Kost/Jake Shostak (York) defeated Rhiner/Silvia (Timothy Christian) 6-2, 6-3

2nd Match (Quarter-Final Match) – Nick Calzano/Zach Elliott (Hinsdale Central) defeated Spencer Kost/Jake Shostak (York) 6-0, 6-2

Doubles – Lucas Gough and Teague Hagan (York)

1st Match – Lucas Gough/Teague Hagan (York) defeated (Glenbard East) 6-1, 6-1

2nd Match (Quarter-Final Match) – Lope Adelakun/Mike Czlonka (Hinsdale Central) defeated Lucas Gough/Teague Hagan (York) 6-2, 6-2
