York Varsity Girls' Tennis Finished Fifth at West Suburban Silver Conference

York finished in 5th Place at the West Suburban Silver Conference Tournament this Saturday, Oct. 11, at Downers Grove North High School. York played a lot of good tennis, including winning 4 out of 7 first round matches. York earned 22 points at the Conference Tournament which was 1 point more than the 21 points that York received during the regular season. The Dukes finished with a total of 43 points overall in the conference.

We continue to improve as a team (scoring 1 more point during the tournament than we had in the regular season). We were able to avenge several losses from the regular season, including at #2 singles vs. Oak Park-River Forest (lost in straight sets during the season, won in straight sets @ Conference Tourney); #2 doubles vs. Downers Grove North and Oak Park-River Forest (lost to both in regular season and won in conference tournament), and #3 doubles vs. Glenbard West (lost in dual, won in Conference Tourney).

The West Suburban Conference recognizes the top-3 finishers at each flight as Conference Medalists. York finished in the top 3 in 3 different flights giving them 5 “All Conference Medalists”, they were: Sarah Paist (2nd Place at 3rd Singles), Abigail Kayman/Paige Wing (3rd Place at 2nd Doubles), and Alex Hennessy/Grace Feilen (3rd Place at 3rd Doubles).

York will compete in the I.H.S.A. Sectional on Friday, October 17th and Saturday, October 18th.
