"Your Trees, Your Community" Teaches Benefits of Tree Planting

Free program teaches residents about tree planting to reduce home energy consumption, reduce flooding and improve air quality.

“Your Trees, Your Community” is a free program scheduled for Tues., Sept. 15, 7 p.m., Elmhurst City Hall. Hosted by the City of Elmhurst and Elmhurst Cool Cities Coalition, and led by Jan Roehll, DuPage County Program Director for The Conservation Foundation, learn how to select, plant and grow trees as a means to reduce home energy consumption, reduce flooding and improve air quality. Additional workshop topics will include using rain barrels, proper mulch placement, and how to “leave no leaves” by composting and using them in your own yard. Learn how rain barrels work, how easy they are to install, and how to make the most of a multi-barrel system. Discounted rain barrels can be purchased through the City for $57.
