2 Charged Over 2 Guns, 2 Drug Stash in Evanston

One gun had been reported stolen out of Mississippi.

EVANSTON, IL — Two men were arrested after cops found two guns, cannabis, cocaine and drug dealing supplies Wednesday, police said.

Evanston police executed a search warrant around 3:15 p.m. on the 1400 block of Pitner Avenue, according to the department.

They discovered two handguns, a .45 caliber semi-automatic, and a .357 caliber Glock that had been reported stolen out of Mississippi. They also found a gram and a half of cocaine, more than six ounces of marijuana, bullets, scales and baggies, police said.

Three people were taken into custody. Two were charged, the third, a 29-year-old Evanston man, was released without charges, according to police.

Xavier Frye, 28, of the 1500 block of West Birchwood Avenue in Chicago was charged with two counts of delivery of cannabis, police said. One is a class 4 felony because of its proximity to a school.

Nicholas Mayfield, 25, of the 1400 block of Pitner Avenue in Evanston was charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Neither was charged for the 1.5 grams of cocaine, according to police.Xavier Frye & Nicholas Mayfield (Evanston Police)
