2nd Suspect Charged in Lake Street Barricade Situation

A 19-year-old Skokie man is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with Wednesday's shots fired incident.

A 19-year-old Skokie man has been charged as the second person barricaded inside a Lake Street home Wednesday following a shots fired incident that occurred while police were patrolling the area.

Evanston police charged Christopher N. Heim, 19 on Friday with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and disorderly conduct. A 16-year-old Evanston boy had already been issued several charges including gang member in possession of a firearm after the two were barricaded inside a home for more than an hour on Wednesday.

Members of the Evanston Police Department’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team heard gunshots while patrolling the area near Lake Street and Darrow Avenue around 4:16 p.m. and observed two subjects run into a home on Lake. Officers set up a perimeter, and the suspects exited the residence at 5:40 p.m.

Police recovered two .380 caliber handguns from a location in the 1000 block of Dobson Street.

Members of the other group involved in the shooting incident were located and spoke to police, but declined to participate in criminal proceedings.
