3 Rescued From Lake By Coast Guard, Evanston Fire Department
A windsurfer and 2 people on a sailboat were rescued on Lake Michigan Wednesday.

EVANSTON, IL — Three people were rescued from Lake Michigan by joint efforts from Evanston and the Coast Guard after falling into the water Wednesday. The Evanston Fire Department launched a full water rescue response after being alerted that a sailboat and windsurfer had both capsized in the same area due to a sudden change of wind, according to Evanston Fire Department Division Chief Paul Polep.
"Everyone's OK," Polep said. "No one went to the hospital, boats were towed in. It ended up being a good thing."
A Coast Guard boat was mobilized from Wilmette, and a City of Evanston lifeguard vessel went out to assist with the rescue.
