4 Teens Charged With Robbing Man on Simpson Street

Local youths accused of asking man for GPS instructions, then robbing him.

Four teenage boys from Evanston were charged with robbery early Saturday morning after a 21-year-old man said he was thrown to the ground while the quartet stole his cell phone.

The victim, an Evanston resident, told police he was walking in the 900 block of Simpson Street shortly after midnight when he was approached by the four teens, two 15-year olds and two 16-year olds, and was asked if he could look up an address for them on his Motorola cellular phone. After the victim complied, he was picked up off the ground and thrown down, causing his head to strike the ground.

“All of the subjects then began to strike the victim with their fists,” according to a police report, which indicated the offenders fled westbound on Simpson Street on foot.
