4 Weeks Of Construction Underway At Central and Poplar In Evanston
Expect delays as ComEd is making system improvements until Oct. 13.

EVANSTON, IL - From the City of Evanston: ComEd contractor crews will be making system improvements in the area of Central Street and Poplar Avenue from Monday, September 18 through Friday, October 13. Work will take place Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During this project, crews will be rebuilding an underground manhole and installing new cable and conduit underground. Drivers should expect short delays in specific work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews.
In order to create a safe work zone, parking will be prohibited and modified traffic patterns will be established while crews are working. Normal parking and traffic patterns will be permitted while crews are not present. Bicycle racks have been relocated to nearby parking spaces to allow continued use during the project.

The project will implement a voltage conversion to improve reliability. By implementing this conversion, more power will be provided to Evanston residents leading to higher capacity and fewer outages. The adjacent manhole structure will be rebuilt in order to accommodate updated infrastructure and any future upgrades to the system.
