5 Pounds Of Weed, 40 Grams Of Crack Found In Central Street Drug Raid: Police

Search warrant leads to marijuana, crack, cash and two arrests in Evanston, police say.

EVANSTON, IL — Officers from the Special Operations Group of the Evanston Police Department found more than five pounds of marijuana, around 40 grams of apparent crack cocaine and about $4,000 when they carried out a drug raid on Saturday morning, police said.

Police said they had a search warrant for an apartment on the 2600 block of Central Street as a result of an investigation into illegal drug sales. In addition to the drugs and money, a large number of plastic baggies and a scale were found in the apartment, police said.

Two men found in the apartment were arrested and accused of felony drug offenses, while a 21-year-old woman was also taken detained, but she was later released without charges, according to police.

Demetrius D. Pully, 24, was charged with possession and delivery of a controlled substance. He faces a Class X Felony charge in connection with distributing the suspected cocaine and a Class 1 Felony for possessing it, police said.

Brandon M. Taylor, 23, is charged with possession and delivery of the 2,300 grams of cannabis recovered in the search. He faces a Class 1 Felony for distributing the marijuana and a Class 2 Felony for possessing it, according to EPD.
