8 Hospitalized After Carbon Monoxide Leak at Evanston Home

The residents are in stable condition Monday after reporting symptoms consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning.

EVANSTON, IL - Eight people were hospitalized early Monday morning after fire crews in Evanston responded to a carbon monoxide alarm going off at a two-flat residence in the 1400 block of Pitner Avenue.

The eight residents of the building were taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital and Evanston Hospital, all having reported having symptoms consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning according to a statement from the Evanston Fire Department.

CO levels in the home were detected at 200 parts per million. The cause of the leak is undetermined.
