Above the Law , and no we're not talking about the movie. We're talking about when officers step outside of their said duties to harass ordinary citizens.
I spoke with a mother the other day who was pulled over for a minor traffic violation, she was then asked to step out of her vehicle for no apparent reason, then hit
with a barrage of questions unrelated to the traffic stop. They then asked to search her vehicle , nothing was found during this illegal search at which time her 12yr old daughter was still in vehicle scared from the ongoing actions of the officers. No ticket was ever issued and no knowledgable answer was ever given for the search..This seems to be an on going problem within the African American community. If we recall a young African American male's parents brought suit against the City for detaining their son because it was said he fit the description of a burglary suspect. We are all aware that they have a job to do, but what is the line when Law enforcement take it upon themselves to go above the law? Other's feel that filling a complaint is useless . Just like there is a code of silence on the streets, they feel there is a code of protect their own with in the Law Enforcement Department.
