EVANSTON, IL — Evanston residents can catch the U.S. team's next World Cup match against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday at an official community watch party.
The event will be outdoors at 7 p.m. at the Robert Crown Community Center outdoor turf fields. The event is being organized by the City’s Parks & Recreation Department and Northwestern Office of Neighborhood and Community Relations.
The watch party follows a successful event last week and will give residents another chance to gather outdoors to watch soccer. People attending are asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the evening event.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase for those who arrive early. Attendees can “Come early, around 6:30 p.m., and come hungry, because there will be hot dogs, burgers, snacks, and beverages for purchase.” Northwestern also plans to offer free popcorn and ice cream while supplies last.
There is a backup location if conditions make the turf fields unusable. The announcement states, “In the case that the turf fields at Robert Crown are too hot, the alternative event location will be Tallmadge Park.”
