EVANSTON, IL — Colectivo Coffee announced plans to open its second Evanston cafe at 2495 Central Street, adding a new neighborhood coffee spot in a historic former service station.
The approximately 2,500-square-foot cafe is anticipated to open in late 2026 or early 2027.
The Milwaukee-based company said the cafe will occupy the former Lincolnwood Service Station, a building originally constructed in 1938 as a Pure Oil gas station. The project will transform the former service station into a neighborhood cafe while drawing inspiration from the building's architecture and history.
Plans call for large overhead garage doors that connect the cafe to an expansive outdoor patio. The outdoor area is set to include landscaped seating areas, a trellis and benches. The cafe will have seating for 48 guests indoors and about 80 guests outdoors.

The Central Street cafe will join Colectivo's existing Evanston location at 716 Church Street. The new site continues the company's expansion in the Chicago area.
Colectivo opened its Southport cafe in July, 2026 and is preparing to open its Roscoe Village cafe in September, 2026. The company was founded in Milwaukee in 1993, opened its first Illinois cafe in 2017 and now operates 23 cafes throughout Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison.
