EVANSTON, IL — Evanston residents are invited to celebrate the grand opening of the new Foster Elementary School next Friday.
The afternoon event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours and family-friendly activities. It will run from 3 to 6 p.m. on Aug. 7 at Foster Elementary School, 1600 Simpson St., Evanston.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 3:30 p.m. The announcement says all are welcome to attend and invites community members to get to know the new Foster community.
Visitors will be able to tour the new school during the event. Guided tours will be available in English and Spanish.
The event is organized as a public welcome for the new school and an opportunity for neighbors and families to see the building in person.
After the school event ends, attendees are also invited to continue the celebration with the City of Evanston Parks and Rec Department at the First Friday event at Mason Park. That event is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. at Church Street and Florence Avenue.
