Evanston Police Arrest Chicago Man In Starbucks Lewd Exposure Case

Police said the July incident at a Central Street Starbucks involved two teens, ages 16 and 17.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston police have arrested a 33-year-old Chicago man in connection with a lewd exposure incident reported this summer at a Starbucks on Central Street.

The Evanston Police Department said officers responded July 28 at about 1 p.m. to Starbucks, 3330 Central St., for a report of a man exposing himself inside the business. The investigation found that Tyreese M. Russell exposed himself and touched his genitals in front of two juveniles, ages 16 and 17. Police reported that Russell also appeared to be recording the juveniles with his cellphone.

According to the police department, one of the juveniles noticed Russell's actions and confronted him. Russell then left the business before officers arrived. Evanston detectives later conducted a follow-up investigation that identified Russell as the suspect and established his residential address.

On Sept. 18, members of the Evanston Police Department's Special Operations Group, working with detectives, located Russell inside a vehicle in front of his residence in the 4900 block of South Vincennes Avenue in Chicago, according to the police department. Detectives took Russell into custody and transported him to the Evanston Police Department.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved one count of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of public indecency. The charges include one Class 4 felony count of sexual exploitation of a child and two Class 4 felony counts of public indecency.

Police identified the defendant as Tyreese M. Russell, 33, of the 4900 block of South Vincennes Avenue in Chicago. After his arrest, Russell was transported to the Skokie Courthouse for a court hearing. He is currently in the custody of the Cook County Department of Corrections, according to EPD.

His next scheduled court appearance is Oct. 14 at the Skokie Courthouse.
