EVANSTON, IL — Evanston-Skokie School District 65 is inviting families, staff, students and community members to weigh in as the district begins its search for the next superintendent.
The District 65 School Board and Alma Advisory Group announced three community gatherings in Evanston later this month, along with an online survey for people who cannot attend. Feedback from the meetings and survey will help inform the leadership profile and priorities for the search.
According to the board, it is seeking "a generational leader who can build on what is strong in D65, advance academic excellence and outcomes for every student, and provide the financial management, organizational leadership, stability, and consensus-building needed for a strong and sustainable future."
The first community gathering is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Chute Middle School, 1400 Oakton St., from 6 to 8 p.m. The second will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Foster Elementary School, 1600 Simpson St., from 6 to 8 p.m. The third is set for Thursday, Oct. 22, at Nichols Middle School, 800 Greenleaf St., from 6 to 8 p.m.
Spanish interpretation will be provided. Registration is optional, though the district said signing up in advance will help planners prepare for each gathering.
Community members who cannot attend in person can still participate through an online survey, which is available now through Oct. 30.
The district said the community's perspectives will help shape the next chapter of District 65 and the leadership priorities tied to the superintendent search. People who want to attend one of the gatherings can sign up through the Community Gathering Registration Form.
