Caring Transitions® Sorts through ‘Emotional Clutter’ of Senior Moving, Downsizing and Estate Sales in Evanston

Local entrepreneur help to ease the transition to new homes

Evanston – As the first of the 79 million baby boomers started turning 65 in January 2012, there will be an even greater number of families trying to help with their aging loved one’s transition to another home or facility. To provide some much needed assistance, local entrepreneur Erin Marcus has launched Caring Transitions, a business designed to help area families through the process, filling a unique niche in the marketplace.

Erin helps to reduce the stress and anxiety among families by providing expert guidance on all phases of transitioning including senior relocation, de-cluttering a residence, downsizing a home, preserving family heirlooms and organizing estate sales, among other things. Erin is serving residents in Evanston, Niles, Skokie, Lincolnwood, Glenview, Northbrook and the North Side of Chicago.

“Everyone will experience a ‘triggering event’ at some point in their lives that will force them into a difficult transitioning stage, whether that event be moving your loved one to a new home, divorce, downsizing due to the economy, or death,” Erin said.  “Caring Transitions provides a unique and useful service so that individuals can ensure that all phases of transitioning are handled properly and at the same time, they won’t need to deal with the emotional and physical stress that comes with these transitions.”

Erin Marcus is a City of Chicago native. She has had a long career in management for the largest long-term care insurance wholesaler in the country. In her free time you can find her hanging out at her favorite local restaurant Gulliver’s or helping out at C.A.R.E. for the Evanston Animal Shelter. She’s always had a passion for helping others, and now she’s looking forward to providing her community such a unique and useful service.

“With Caring Transitions I am excited to provide individuals in the area with services that so many people have told me they would have found useful when transitioning their own parents,” Erin said. “The great thing about this company is its uniqueness and the fact that I can help others in any difficult situation by providing such a wide array of services.”

Erin helps families cope with transitions by assessing items in the house and assisting with critical decisions about those items. They work with families to de-clutter the residence, facilitate the distribution of items to other family members, conduct sales of remaining items to the public, and then clean out the entire home in preparation for sale. They also assist the family with every step of the relocation and transition process of their loved ones.
