EVANSTON, IL (APRIL 2012) --- Duxler Complete Auto Care, the North Shore’s leading auto repair shop with locations in Evanston, Northbrook, Skokie and Wilmette, is empowering women to take control of their car care. Gone are the days when every gas station was full service, and where women could have their cars filled-up with gas while having their oil, windshield fluid and tires checked and filled. In today’s self-service world, Duxler is educating women on simple tasks they can do on their own and teaching them the basics of preventative car maintenance.
Too often, women find themselves stuck on the side of the road calling someone to help change their tire, or heading to the dealership just to have their car fluids checked and filled. Duxler is putting an end to this with their free Car Care Clinics that teach women (and new drivers) basic maintenance upkeep they can do on their own.
Julie Yusim, Director of Marketing at Duxler Complete Auto Care, explains how women can ‘takeover the wheel’ and be ‘car confident’. “Duxler is doing away with the stereotype that women have little or no knowledge about automobiles, and thus get taken advantage of at the auto repair shop or dealer,” states Yusim. “Statistics show women are the decision makers when it comes to big purchases such as a vehicle, therefore it’s important for them to understand the ins and outs of their cars.”
Duxler’s free Car Care Clinics focus on how to change tires, jump-start a car, check tire pressure and fill fluids. They inform participants on all the safety features of cars, and urge everyone to carry an emergency car kit that includes such things as jumper cables, flashlight, blanket, shovel, water and energy bars. Duxler also plans to provide specialized Car Care Certification Clinics for new driver’s license holders, or students that drive back and forth to college.
“We love educating any driver - young, old, male or female - so they feel as comfortable as possible when getting behind the wheel, and know what to do in any situation,” says Yusim. Duxler also goes above and beyond to make sure their customers have a clear picture of what is happening with their car by bringing them into the shop to point out worn out parts and recommended repairs.
Duxler’s family-focused philosphy provides conveniences for busy moms such as free courtesy cars, a local shuttle, WiFi, and children’s play areas on site. And, going against the norm, Duxler’s Wilmette location (1201 Green Bay Road) even offers a good old fashion full-service gas station.
Duxler is proud to be an exhibitor at the Fifth Annual North Shore Women’s Conference, held on Friday, May 11th from 10am-3:30pm at the Lincolnshire Marriott. The event is hosted by 21 local Chambers of Commerce, and will hold breakout sessions, workshops, and inspiring speakers all for women empowerment. Julie Yusim is ecstatic to be apart of the event, and knows that she is just one step closer in her goal to educating women on car care.
