
[ROSEMONT/CHICAGO, IL] – Northwestern College, the second oldest private, two-year college in Illinois, recently confirmed the promotion of eight (8) year staff member Laura Soria of Evanston as the Campus Director for the College’s Chicago Campus! Laura had been serving as the Interim Campus Director since January of 2012 when she was appointed to temporarily fill the post. Shortly thereafter she was offered the permanent position of Campus Director, which she recently accepted.
Laura joined Northwestern College in 2003 as the Director of Administration of the Chicago Campus (4829 N. Lipps Avenue, Jefferson Park) where she has participated in the College planning processes, served as a committee Co-Chair for the Higher Learning Commission 2011 Self-Study, acted as campus Student Conduct Officer, and coordinated the campus human resource functions. Laura also oversaw all campus functions, worked with the Campus Director to create the annual budget, and had oversight for campus security operations.
During her tenure at the College, Laura stepped in as Acting Campus Director on three separate occasions so as to assist the College in the transition of directors, including this January. Not long after this most recent January appointment, she was offered the permanent position of Campus Director, which she accepted on February 1st.

Prior to joining Northwestern College, Laura worked for fifteen (15) years at Northwestern University’s Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chicago. For three of those years she served as their Director of Laboratory Operations. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa where she received her BS in Biology with Honors. She later received her Master of Business Administration from North Park University of Chicago in 2008.
Laura is a 10 year resident of Evanston. In 1998 she was a Co-Founder of Midwest Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc., an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to finding homes for homeless Labs. She has also served the organization as a Board Member as well as database administrator.
