Supporters of Judge Larry Axelrood Rally and Cheer News of an Endorsement from Former Evanston Mayor Lorraine Morton

On Wednesday, March 13 supporters of Judge Larry Axelrood filled Koi in Evanston and cheered the announced endorsement from former Evanston Mayor Lorraine Morton.  The campaign rally was co-hosted by Hecky Powell, Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, 8th Ward Alderman Ann Rainey, and Evanston resident Joe Flanagan in support of Judge Axelrood’s bid to win election to Cook County’s 9th Judicial Subcircuit.  The former Evanston mayor joins Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police, Personal PAC, Illinois State Senator Ira Silverstein, 50th Ward Alderman Debra Silverstein, and the majority of Evanston Alderman in their vote of support for Judge Axelrood.
During the campaign rally at Koi, Judge Axelrood spoke to his supporters.  “I am grateful and humbled by this amazing show of support for my candidacy and am thrilled by the endorsement from Mayor Morton, a beloved and respected Evanstonian,” he stated.  “We are in the final days of this campaign, and my hope is that voters will get to their polling places and once there, will vote for the most experienced and highest rated candidate in the race – me.”
Judge Axelrood has received the highest bar association ratings in the race for Circuit Court Judge in the 9th Subcircuit and is the only candidate running who has been found “Highly Qualified” by the Chicago Bar Association.  The Chicago Council of Lawyers declared Judge Axelrood “Well Qualified” noting that he “is considered to be a very good jurist, with a good grasp of the law and an even demeanor.  He is considered to be hard-working and is adept at handling the requirements of presiding over two specialty court calls, Veterans Court and Mental Health Court, in addition to hearing felony criminal matters in the Criminal Division. He communicates well with defendants and is praised for his courtroom management."
Since 2005, Judge Axelrood has served as an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County and is currently assigned to the Second Municipal District working at the Skokie Courthouse hearing jury trials, bench trials, contested motions and bond hearings in felony and misdemeanor cases.  In addition to his trial duties, Judge Axelrood presides over two specialty court calls – veterans court and a mental health court call.  Judge Axelrood’s veterans court is now the second largest in the state of Illinois.
