Animal Rescue Volunteer Honored with Bicycle From Evanston Bike Shop
The Pony Shop rewarded the Morton Grove man for raising more than $1,500 at a recent charity event.

EVANSTON, IL - A Morton Grove man who has volunteered and raised funds for the non-profit Community Animal Rescue Effort was rewarded last month with a Giant bicycle from The Pont Shop in Evanston.
James Cha raised $1,610 for C.A.R.E.’s Strut for Strays event, well surpassing his pledged goal of $1,500.
Cha has volunteered with C.A.R.E. - an organization that rehomes companion pets into safe, healthy and lifelong home - for more than 15 years and “has not missed a Strut outing, dog wash or Holiday C.A.R.E. Faire since he began helping look after rescue dogs for the organization,” according to a news release.
“James continually goes above and beyond in his efforts to help animals,” said Linda Gelb, president of C.A.R.E. “We thank James for his commitment to our mission.”

“I prefer to support organizations that are local and volunteer-based, like C.A.R.E.,” added Lou Kuhn, owner of The Pony Shop. “Volunteers put in a lot of time and commitment in order to make the group so successful. I don’t have a lot of [free] time, but if I were to volunteer, C.A.R.E. is the type of place I’d want to be.”
